San Diego’s first Literary Journal in over 50 years is set to launch on April 1st, 2025; No Fooling! 64 Pages of original poetry, comic strips, prose, arts features and social mayhem; monthly. Non profit. Only the artists, designers, editor and writers get paid!

Featuring original new work by Neil Gaiman, Liam Sharp, Miles Krogfus, Steve Cook, Amy Eyre, Igor Goldkind and many other names you haven’t heard of….YET!
Watch this space for news as it breaks.
This is such exciting news! A literary journal with a mix of original poetry, comic strips, and prose sounds like a wonderful platform for artists and writers. I love that it’s a non-profit endeavor where the creatives involved are recognized and compensated. Question for you: What inspired the team behind this journal to focus on showcasing a diverse range of talents, including both established names like Neil Gaiman and emerging artists? I’d love to learn more about the vision and values driving this project.

Thank you so much for expressing your interest and kind words.
The Mission IS to recall and recollect our humanity through the expressive arts. Mainly poetry, fiction, comics, cartoons, photography, visual art, dance, theatre and media. Our emphasis, our bias if you will, is towards the literary arts but all art is included.
ART WILL SET US FREE!
Especially those artists who blend different genres and media for their creations.
ART WILL SET US FREE!
WE PAY ARTISTS, not a lot; some $50 a poem, $100 a short story, $150 a comic strip same, around $150 for a feature and $100 for a review or feature on the arts: gallery exhibition, artist interview and profile, emerging arts movement be it popular or fine etc.
We pay upon publication.
The business model permits us to sell copies for under $10 by only paying contributors, the designer and the editor off of sales.
Me and the other executives only get income based on advertising revenue which we have to generate.
There is also The Mission Station coming a month after we publish our first issue. We piggy back the content of the print publication. Thus poets read to camera, comics are animated, musicians and animators contribute. But the station turns over every month with fresh content based on the contents of the magazine. So basically we mimic the magazine content with audio visual enhancement.
It streams live and downloads from out LA-based server.
The first month is free access and afterwards a $9.99 subscription is required.
It’s a Democratic Socialist model of doing business but it pays the workers first.
I lived in France under the Socialist government of Francois Mitterrand and I know how capitalism can work when it is directed at the public good rather than exploitation and profit. Frnech business make a profit and our interntionally competative but they are all. nationalized, meaning they belong to the citizen of France and regulated by their duly elected representative. France has a thriving economy as does Holland, Iceland and most of the Scandinavia countries.
As the US plummets into the quagmire of Kleptocracy under THRUMP and his White Christian Nationalist fascist followers, it’s important that real Americans do the hard and steadfast work to offer up an alternative to fascist, racist dictatorship.
The arts is how The Mission plans to fight this particular cultural war.
i would encourage you to submit by emailing me directly to igor@themissionrts.com
Put SUBMISSION or CONTENT PROPOSAL as your subject line and we will respond one way or the other promptly.
We want to promote and nurture the arts; the newbies as much as the established stars.
We judge on quality, not celebrity and no one is paid more than anyone else.
This is OUR Mission.
Best Regards,
Igor
